Professional Training Contemporary

Dovydas Strimaitis

The focus of this floorwork class is to learn to use momentum and gravity efficiently. This requires a huge amount of control, which initially might seem like an opposition to the free flow of momentum. For this reason, the class is gradually built in order to develop the coordination and control needed to be able to catch the flow of the momentum. It consists of diverse exercises to build the strength, speed and most importantly the coordination necessary for working on various 'levels' of the floor. The goal of the training is to become comfortable with manipulating gravity and momentum in order to achieve freedom in using the floor as a way of artistic expression.

Dovydas Strimaitis is a Lithuanian contemporary dance artist. After graduating from Codarts – Hogeschool voor de Kunsten in Rotterdam in 2019, he worked with the collective La Horde at the National Ballet of Marseille for three years. He then turned to the freelance scene where he works with Alexandre Roccoli, Dalila Belaza and Kor’sia.
