Professional Training Ballet

Laura Atwood began her dance education in New York, where she was taught by Finis Jhung, Robert Denvers and David Howard, among others. At the age of 15 she received her first engagement with the Ballet Concertantes de Puerto Rico. Since then she has pursued a broad and varied career with solo contracts in various countries. From 1988 she performed with numerous contemporary dance groups in Zurich. Since 1997 she teaches an open training for professional dancers in Zurich and works again and again as a guest teacher for companies in Switzerland and Germany. In 2004 she was awarded the Culture Prize of the City of Zurich for her pedagogical work. Laura Atwood successfully runs a practice for traditional Chinese medicine and together with her husband has published a book with dance photographs.
