SHARING: Über männlich gelesene Schönheit in der westlichen Kunst

Artist Sasha Amaya is spending her two-week residency at Tanzhaus Zürich researching the first steps of the third piece in her trilogy on the recrafting of European art history in contemporary art. The first work, Sarabande, focused on the lineage western dance history and possibilities for reappropriating this training; the second, Orfeo, recreated Monteverdi's baroque opera with an all women cast and a new ending. In this third work, Amaya focuses on the image of Western European male beauty. Taking as starting point works from the history of visual art, Amaya investigates the lenses through which we have – and continue to – view and value a certain type of male-read body, and explores the performative potential of de- and re-constructing such an image on stage.

The work-in-progress Sharing will be followed by a brief audience discussion.
