Six Sistsers

In Six Sisters, three people meet at work and at the same time in their shared living room. The three of them talk to themselves, to each other and to us. They tie knot after knot, dreaming of the future, pondering happiness, despair and hope. Their knotting movements are supported by a fabric of Chekhov's Three Sisters (1901) and an open audio description*.

The performers Lau, Emmilou and Duc take on the thoughts, feelings and actions of various characters from the Three Sisters and negotiate multi-layered affects and dimensions of human relationships that are highly relevant today.

Lea Moro combines the search for an elsewhere and the examination of meaning and labour from Chekhov's classic work with the question of a possible community in the sense of sisterhood.

  • Following the performance on November 7, there will be a discussion on the topic of “Sisterhood” with Lea Moro, Mandy Abou Shoak and Franziska Schutzbach. The discussion will be held in German.
  • As part of the choreographic work Six Sisters, the workshop Audio Description as a Choreographic Tool will take place at on 9 November.

*An open audio description (AD) can be heard by everyone in the audience. In the playSix Sisters, the AD is spoken by the three performers Lau, Duc and Emmilou and is thus an integral part of the stage action as well as an artistic means.
