Léna Sophia Bagutti

R.u.in.es

R.u.in.es was born out of Léna Sophia Bagutti's instinctive need to reconnect with her Algerian roots and her family history, a past that faded with time. In the context of colonial domination, this heritage was gradually erased, leaving only subtle traces and faint whispers that speak of oppression, criystallize in the flesh and are passed down through generations. By evoking the ghosts of the past and the memories fossilized in the body, R.u.in.es seeks to recover this history, countering the oblivion that threatens to erase it. In the meanders of this history lie forgotten tales, broken dreams, unrealized aspirations and an enduring desire for freedom that has been passed down through generations.

Léna Sophia Bagutti

Born in Ticino to a Swiss father and a Franco-Algerian mother, Léna Sophia Bagutti pursued her training in contemporary dance across various European cities. Since 2020, she has worked as a dancer and assistant with numerous choreographers, including Martin Zimmermann, Perrine Valli, La Ribot, Tabea Martin, Nicole Seiler, Soraya Leila Emery, and Ricardo de Paula. In 2023, she premiered her first creation, R.u.in.es, Chap. I, as part of the Quarts d’Heure at Théâtre Sévelin. Supported by PREMIO, the full-length piece will premiere in May 2025. In her work, she approaches the body as a living archive, where layers of memories, dreams, and stories are fossilized, waiting to be embodied.
