As a production house for makers of contemporary choreographic works in the region, one focus of Tanzhaus Zürich lies on young talent – for example with our short pieces platform Show-Off. Bonds forged during the programm often lead to long-term reciprocal relationships that greatly enrich the institution.
Each season, dance and performance artists who have completed their training and live in the canton of Zurich or have a connection to Zurich can submit a low-threshold application for Show-Off. The jury consists of two people from the Tanzhaus team, the person from the Dramaturgy Pool acting as a coach along with the external coach.
The three selected artists or groups (maximum of three people) each work on a short piece of a maximum of 20 minutes during three weeks of divided rehearsal time. At the end, the pieces are presented three times in a public workshop performance a. In addition, the participants receive technical and dramaturgical support and can attend the Tanzhaus professional training free of charge during the development period.
