Rebecca Weingartner is a freelance choreographer from Basel. The awareness of structural disadvantages in the context of her previous works as well as Rebecca Weingartner's own experience as a woman*, person of colour and person affected by classism form the core of her current artistic exploration. Following ‘EQUALITY!’ and ‘SOLIDARITY!’, ‘GUGUS!’ completes her trilogy of dance pieces for a young audience. The trilogy explores the iconic slogan of the French Revolution ‘Freedom, Equality, Solidarity[1]’ by reinterpreting it for today's world. In 2021, she was awarded the Culture Prize for Dance by the Canton of Baselland.
