About us

The Tanzhaus Zürich Association operates Tanzhaus Zürich, the most important production facility for contemporary dance in Zurich and one of the most significant centers for contemporary dance creation in Switzerland. As a place for artistic production and research, further education, consultation, networking, mediation, and presentation, Tanzhaus Zürich holds a central role in choreography, dance, and performance in the Zurich area and beyond. Tanzhaus is a hub for both local and international networking and serves as the artistic home for dance creators living and working in Zurich.

Management from the 2026/2027 season

With the 2025/2026 season, Catja Loepfe's tenure as Artistic Director and Managing Director will come to an end. We extend our heartfelt thanks to her for her tremendous and tireless dedication! From the 2026/2027 season onward, the leadership of the institution will transition to new hands.

A position with a workload of 80 to 100 percent is available. The application deadline is January 15, 2025.

The Verein Tanzhaus Zürich, as the supporting organisation, has therefore appointed a search committee and tasked it with finding a new director for the Tanzhaus. The search committee is made up of three members of the board of Verein Tanzhaus Zürich and four external persons:

  • Yuvviki Dioh, Dr phil. (Agent for Diversity, Schauspielhaus Zürich, external)
  • Yara Dulac Gisler (artist & cultural practitioner, Zurich, external)
  • Thomas Grüebler (theatre pedagogue, cultural and religious studies scholar, Winterthur, President of Tanzhaus Zürich)
  • Daniel Hellmann (artist producing at Tanzhaus in the Kompliz:innen model, Zurich, board member)
  • Anna Mülter (Artistic Director, Festival Theaterformen, Hanover/Braunschweig, external)
  • Valérie Niederoest (cultural manager, administrator, musician, Lausanne, external)
  • Michael Rüegg (Dance and Theatre Promotion, Culture City of Zurich, Board Member)

Board Association

The board of the Tanzhaus Zürich Association is composed of representatives from culture, politics and business. The board serves as the strategic leadership body and represents the institution externally:
